Feather Dip Pen

$20.00

Another one I’m going to put photos up of soon… shocking, I know. The photo is of the March Magick box, which had the feather dip pen in it.

But a feather dip pen with 5 nibs to use for writing in your book of shadows or writing on your intention paper for spell work.

The feathers are natural (but dyed, apart from the grey one) so please expect some variation from the photo.

A feather dip pen isn’t technically a quill, because it has nibs. For writing in your B.O.S. or your writing on your intention paper and bay leaves in style.

Description

A feather dip pen with 5 nibs for writing in your B.O.S. or your writing on your intention paper and bay leaves in style.

The feathers are natural (but dyed, apart from the grey one) so please expect some variation from the photo.

A feather dip pen isn’t technically a quill, because it has nibs. Yes you can do beautiful calligraphy work with these!

How To Use

To use your pen, dip the nib up to the end of the line – don’t dip the whole nib in. You’ll want to practice this before you jump right into writing in your BOS!

When you’re finished writing, wash your nib straight away in warm soapy water then rinse it with water. Don’t let any ink dry on the nib

If you can, use thick paper (like watercolour paper!) to write on to help prevent your writing from bleeding. You might find you have to write a bit bigger than you’re used to as well.

You can find indian ink in art stores, and dilute it 2:1 ink to water to use with your pen, or you can DIY! I’ve currently got some dragons blood resin soaking in isopropyl alcohol to see if I can make some dragons blood ink lol

Youtube some calligraphy tutorials, or go on pinterest! But you can just use it like a normal pen, that you have to dip in the ink if you like.

ESSENTIAL PRODUCT This product is an essential product (for studying) and can be sent during level 4 lockdown. Please expect delays from the postie.

To Make Your Own Ink

You’ll need a small dish, glass or tea cup and some hot or boiling water. Some inks you’ll want a coffee filter to strain it if you don’t have tea bags.

You can use instant coffee (this will add energy to your spell and help speed up the results) – experiment with the recipe, but about 3 heaped teaspoons to half a cup is a good start.

You can steep herbal teas, black tea, and herbs and spices in a small amount of boiling water and leave it to cool then use this. Paprika is a good one, so is turmeric and black tea. You’ll want to use lots of herbs to water, and allow it to cool completely with the herbs in the water before straining.

Red wine works! A Syrah is great for a rich colour, otherwise the colour is quite pale.

If you have charcoal, you can crush it and mix this with water and use it as an ink

If you’re adventurous and have some on hand, you can grind and soak dragons blood resin in alcohol – there’s loads of recipes online, I haven’t tried this so I don’t want to give you a recipe that won’t work

You can also use watercolour paint!
