Making Moon Water

This info was in the February 2021 boxes.

Moon water! Such a simple yet amazing tool, referred to by some as ‘drawing down the moon’; making moon water dates back to at least the ancient Greeks and is found in many cultures around the world. How do you make moon water? It’s actually incredibly simple.

DIY Moon Water

Use a clear glass bottle to absorb the moonlight. Keep in a cupboard or enclosed area out of direct sunlight once charged. Absolutely use a moon water bottle but if you have a clear, air tight & clear glass bottle you can make more moon water, even one for each phase of the moon.

Fill your bottle with water. Use the following water, in order of preference: collected clean rainwater, spring water, bottled water, filtered water or boiled water. The purer the water the longer your moon water will stay good.

On a full moon (or if you prefer, a dark moon, new moon, waxing or waning moon depending on your intent), place your bottle outside after moon-rise where it will be illuminated overnight by the moon. Do so with the intent of charging the water with the rays and power of the moon. If you can’t place your bottle directly outside place it on a windowsill.

If you wish you can chant (silently or out loud) your intention of charging the water with the moon’s energy. An example is: beautiful moon, may your rays touch this water and bless it with your powers.

Collect the bottle before sunrise. Store it away from sunlight.

You can use a special bottle to make moon water if you’d like. When using and pouring your moon water from a special glass bottle, keep your index finger on any charms or decorations to keep them out of the way. Refill & recharge your moon water when it’s empty or getting a bit old. You can water your plants or even wash your hands with the little bit that’s left before recharging.

What type of water?

The type of water you use to make moon water depends on what you intend to use the moon water for. Tap water is totally OK if you’re not planning on using it for crafting something like a room spray. For crafting/long term moon water storage, use distilled/pure water. If you’re going to be drinking it, making tea, or cooking with your moon water, make sure you start with drinking water and keep it chilled until you’re ready to use it and to be safe, don’t drink/consume it after 3 days. The purer the water you start with, the purer your moon water will be.
